01

What is Söz?

Söz is a personal Kyrgyz language learning app for iPhone and iPad, with an Android version in open beta. Its adaptive feed combines useful vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, grammar, culture, active practice, timely review and tests. The interface is available in English and Russian.

02

How do I get Söz?

On iPhone or iPad, download Söz free from the App Store (iOS or iPadOS 17 or later). On Android, Söz is in open beta: join the beta list on our home page and we’ll email an invitation as places open.

03

Is Söz available on Android?

Yes, an Android version is in active development and open beta testing. It is not yet on Google Play for everyone. Add your email to the Android beta list and we’ll invite you as testing places open.

04

Is Söz free?

Yes. Söz is free to download from the App Store and includes a full free learning experience. Optional Söz Pro access expands pronunciation, practice and test modes, collections, customization, and other Pro features identified in the app. Joining the Android beta is free.

05

How do Söz Pro purchases work?

Söz Pro is offered through Apple in-app purchase. The current setup includes monthly and yearly auto-renewable subscriptions and a lifetime unlock. The purchase screen shows available products, local prices, duration where applicable, and a Restore Purchases option. Subscriptions can be managed or canceled in your Apple Account or App Store subscription settings.

06

Who is Söz for?

Söz is made for beginners, heritage learners with Kyrgyz roots who want to reconnect with the language, and families passing Kyrgyz on to their children, wherever they live.

07

Can I learn more than one word a day?

Yes. Choose 3, 5, 10, or 15 new words as your daily goal. Reviews are added separately when words are due. You can change the goal in settings.

08

How does review work?

Söz uses spaced repetition. Words that feel easy return later, while difficult words come back sooner. Practice modes help you recall words actively without changing the daily goal.

09

How do I add a widget?

Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, choose the add button, search for Söz, select a widget size, and add it. Lock Screen widgets are added from Lock Screen customization. Exact labels can vary by operating system version.

10

Why did my widget not update?

Open Söz once so it can prepare a fresh widget snapshot. Then return to the Home Screen. The operating system controls the exact widget refresh time, so changes may not appear immediately.

11

Are reminders required?

No. Notifications are optional. Söz still works when they are off. You can change permission in system settings and adjust reminder time inside the app.

12

Does Söz have word audio?

Yes. The current iPhone and iPad app includes bundled Kyrgyz pronunciation audio. Free users can listen to five new words per day and replay those words during the same day; Söz Pro removes that daily preview limit.

13

Will progress move to a new device?

When iCloud is available and enabled for Söz, key progress data can sync through your private iCloud storage. Open the app on the old device before moving, use the same Apple ID, and allow time for iCloud to sync.

14

How do I remove my data?

Söz has no account. Deleting the app removes local app data. A private iCloud backup may remain until it is removed through available iCloud storage controls. See Privacy Choices for details.
